It’s a QT Christmas Miracle!

What is up 2017?  We here at the QT blog feel like 2017 will be our year – our year to elevate to our potential!  Our year to go from tens of readers to 100s of readers.  Our year to make a move to the Food Network.  You think we are kidding don’t you?  Yeah, keep thinking that and we will think of you as we are wiping QT nacho cheese from our lips with $100 bills on our TV show, while singing Starboy – cuz that’s what we are.

Every year, following Christmas, I go to Savannah with my family to visit my wife’s parents.  You know Savannah – Charleston’s twin sister, fraternal twin that is.  She is a bit larger, but still a ton of fun.  She also let’s you drink outside which is a bonus.  Anyway, the drive from Charlotte is typically 4.5 hours or so.  This trip took nearly 8 hours due to the state of SC being stupid.  Yeah I said stupid.  I know they have cheap gas and all, but if you can’t build proper roads, then you should just go back to trails and horse and buggies.  The back-up on 26 and 95 getting into Savannah was terrible.  It was bumper to bumper and 0-20 mph and in the accordion effect, speed up, slow down, stand still, speed up.  Over.  Over.  And Over.

Yeah it looked like that!  For miles and hours.

OK – need more proof of how out of date SC is?  WTF is this?

Yeah, that is a payphone!  A PAYPHONE!  Who knew they still existed?  I guess Neo is in luck if he is in SC and needs to get out of the Matrix.  On another note, how cruel are the machines if they made you live in a digital version of SC?

OK enough making fun of the state of SC and let’s talk food.  Now with all the traffic, I got hungry, but the traffic was stop and go.  We were running too late to go in and eat somewhere.  I needed something I could eat on the go.  What should I get?  Where should i go?

Well I went with an old stand by.  I know, I have already reviewed these items, but I am reviewing them this time from a point of view as a driving food.

Here is what I will say.  The taste was still very good, but these items really show their value as a portable item.  I was able to drive the car, maintain hand on the wheel and enjoy their goodness.  Both the buffalo chicken stick and the taquito were excellent choices.  They answered the hunger in the my stomach and put a smile on my face.  The UPFR (universal portable food rating) for this combo comes in with a high score of 94.3, hitting the major categories with high scores in portability, messiness and one hand operation.

Now the bad.  Well let’s just say that these food items make a bee-line for the back door.  If you are eating in your office then this isn’t too big a deal.  If you are on the road, stuck in traffic on some poorly maintained SC interstate then this is a bit of an issue.  I managed to keep it together, but it was touch and go there for a bit.

While I have given these item high chomp ratings for stationary eating, I am going to adjust down to 2.73 chomps for this combo due to the potential need for facilities.

We here at the QT blog wish you a great 2017.  Steven went on Christmas vacation and we haven’t seen him since November.  Come to think of it, he looks a little like the elf in the Rudolph TV show – perhaps he is out somewhere with a Bumble and the misfit toys.  You have my word that I will track him down or die trying.  OK that is a lie.  I like Steven and all, but die trying?   Who are we kidding here.  How about this.  I promise to reach out to him.  He lives in SC though – think he has a payphone handy?
